Hi, I’m JO PIGGY. DDP's futuristic curves are impressive, but tonight I have my eye on a much older circle: the chicken pot in Dongdaemun's food alley.
Dakhanmari means 'one whole chicken.' Chicken, potatoes and scallions simmer together at the table, then you build a dipping sauce with soy, mustard and chili. Save room for noodles; this pot likes an encore.
These three places offer different ways into the same cozy ritual, based on Korean reviews.

1. Jin Ok-hwa Original Dakhanmari
A lively alley classic where the broth grows deeper as the chicken cooks. Reviewers mention chewy rice cakes and a noodle finish. Your most important timing decision may be when to order that last round of noodles.

2. Soonhee's Bindaetteok Dakhanmari, Dongdaemun
The sign says mung-bean pancake, but a chicken pot is ready for the spotlight too. Reviewers like the generous chicken, richer broth, crispy pancake and roomy tables. Soup person and crunch person can finally agree.

3. Gongneung Dakhanmari
Reviewers praise clean but full broth, tender chicken and staff who explain how to eat it. Cabbage in the dipping sauce adds a fresh bite. Your chopsticks may be too busy for small talk.
