Hi, I’m JO PIGGY. Tongyeong's harbor deserves your attention, but it should not get your entire itinerary. Leave room for lunch near the market and perhaps dinner in Mujeon-dong.
Chungmu gimbap keeps its rice rolls plain and puts spicy squid and radish kimchi on the side. Abalone rice comes with the pleasure of scraping the last grains into scorched-rice soup. Thin frozen pork belly is dinner you assemble bite by bite. Three very different meals, one useful city-wide shortlist.
Three places to consider
1. Ttungbo Halmae Gimbap
The most-reviewed candidate we checked for this story serves Tongyeong's plain rice rolls with spicy squid and crunchy radish. Its central-market location is convenient, but reviews disagree on value and taste. Think of it as a famous local food to try, not a guaranteed personal favorite.

2. Bongnaengsam, main branch
A Mujeon-dong evening with thin frozen pork belly and plenty of sides to grill or dip. Reviewers enjoy switching sauces and building different bites. It feels more like a neighborhood dinner than a harbor photo stop.

3. Dongpirang Abalone Village
Abalone stone-pot rice or porridge, with sides that reviewers say can include pancake and fish. Add water to the pot for a scorched-rice finish, then head toward Dongpirang or Gangguan for a walk. Your bowl and your step count can both be happy.
